What Happens to Your Website Data After Cancellation
29 October 2026 · 5 min read
Understand how long your site files and databases stay safe after a cancelled or expired service, and how one-click restore keeps you safe.
Data protection beyond the cancellation date
When you cancel a hosting plan or let an invoice expire, HostPanda does not instantly wipe your servers. We recognize that payment cards expire, project schedules slip, and mistakes happen.
Our platform uses a clear retention workflow that keeps your websites, databases, and configuration safe for a grace period so you have time to recover or retrieve essential backups.
The retention timeline explained
When a cancellation is scheduled, your hosting continues operating normally until the prepaid period ends. If the service ends or is suspended for non-payment, it enters a retention window, typically lasting 14 days.
During this retention period, your site is taken offline to prevent unauthorized access, but your files and databases remain intact on our storage systems.
- Prepaid time remains active: cancelling early never cuts off your paid days.
- Retention window: files and databases are kept safely for 14 days after service ends.
- Transparent dates: the Client Area shows the exact scheduled purge date.
- Permanent deletion: once the purge date passes, data is wiped permanently for privacy.
Restoring your service before purge
During the retention window, you can restore your hosting directly from the Client Area. A clear retention banner provides a Restore button to pay the renewal invoice and bring your website back online immediately.
If you need extra time to download backups or migrate data elsewhere, our support team can assist before the final purge date arrives.
