Invite a Developer Without Sharing Your Hosting Password
29 October 2026 · 6 min read
HostPanda lets you invite a developer to a single hosting service so they can do their job without owning your whole account.
Sharing a password is a bad habit
If you email your client-area password to a freelancer, you lose control the moment the job ends. They might still have the login. You also mix billing, email and every site you own into one shared secret.
A better pattern is invite-only access for the work they need, on the service they need, with a clear way to revoke it later.
How HostPanda developer access works
In the client area, open the hosting service and use Developers to invite someone by email. They create (or use) their own HostPanda login and request access to that service. You review the request and approve what they can open.
You stay the account owner. Billing, plan changes and cancellation stay with you. When the project is done, revoke the invite so their access ends cleanly.
- Invite by email from the service page.
- Approve what the developer can open before they start.
- Revoke access when the work is finished.
- Never send your own password in chat or email.
A simple checklist before you invite
Confirm which site they should touch. Say whether they need files only, or also databases and DNS. Turn on multi-factor authentication on your own account first, so a stolen password alone isn't enough.
If you're the developer reading this, ask the client to invite you instead of requesting their password. It's faster to set up properly once than to clean up a shared login later.
