Where Promo Codes Work (and Where They Do Not)

29 October 2026 · 5 min read

Clear rules: promos for new orders and buying more time on the same plan. Package changes use unused-time credit instead of a second promo.

Promo codes on new orders

When you order hosting, you can enter a promotion code if you have one. Valid codes reduce that checkout total under the usual plan, interval and minimum rules. After you pay, the service starts on the package you bought.

If a code is invalid, expired or not valid for that plan, checkout tells you before you pay. You can remove it and continue without a discount.

Extend hosting can take a promo

Already on a plan and want more months or years on the same package? Open the service, choose Change plan, then Extend hosting. That path can accept a promo code. The discount applies to the one-time extension payment. It does not rewrite your recurring package price by itself.

Extend hosting is also the path when you want to buy more time during a past-due grace period. Package change stays locked until the open invoice is cleared; extending the same package can still be available.

  • New order checkout: promo field allowed.
  • Extend hosting: promo field allowed.
  • Change plan (upgrade or downgrade): no promo field.

Change plan uses unused-time credit instead

Upgrade or downgrade with Change plan does not accept a promo code. That is intentional. We do not stack a second promotion onto an in-place package switch.

On Start now, unused time you already paid for is still credited against the new package for the rest of the period. You see that in the preview as Amount due now. Having used a promo when you first ordered does not turn that unused-time credit off. When that period used a promo, the credit base is 50% of the prorated unused time (or 100% without a promo), followed by the standard 8% processing fee. The restriction is only: no new promo on the package change itself.
