Use a Temporary Website Address Before You Change DNS

29 October 2026 · 5 min read

Every HostPanda hosting service can get a temporary website address on a free subdomain so you can check the site before pointing your domain.

Why a temporary address helps

Moving a live site is less stressful when you can see the new copy working first. A temporary website address lets you upload files, check pages and fix problems while your visitors still land on the old host.

When you're happy, you change DNS or nameservers once. You don't have to race against a half-finished migration.

What you get on HostPanda

New HostPanda hosting services can include a temporary address under sites.hostpanda.uk. It looks like your-account.sites.hostpanda.uk and serves the same site files as your primary domain.

Open it over HTTPS, walk through the site, and keep building until you're ready. The address is for checking and setup, not as your long-term public brand URL.

  • One temporary address per hosting service.
  • Same files as your main site, so what you see is what you'll publish.
  • Useful when you're moving from another host and want a dry run first.

When to point your real domain

Leave your domain on the old host until the new site looks right on the temporary address. Then update DNS (or nameservers) to HostPanda and wait for the change to spread.

If you need help moving files and databases, tell us on the contact form. We'll handle that part; you'll recreate email inboxes on the new account when you're ready.
