Change Plan Yourself and Keep Unused Balance
29 October 2026 · 7 min read
Move up or down between Starter, Business and Pro without opening a ticket. Unused time you already paid for is credited when you start the new package mid-cycle.
Self-service, not a support queue
A lot of hosts make you open a ticket, wait for someone to move your account, and hope the unused days are handled fairly. On HostPanda you change the plan yourself from the Client Area. No ticket, no waiting on technical support to flip a switch for you.
Open the service, choose Change plan, pick Starter, Business or Pro, and set monthly or yearly. You see a live preview of what is due before you confirm. Your site files stay where they are. Visitors keep seeing the same site while billing and package limits move.
Upgrading: unused balance goes toward the new plan
When you need more sites or storage, choose the higher package and Start now. Unused balance on your current plan is credited against the new package for the rest of this billing period. If your current billing period used a coupon or promotional discount, the credit base is 50% of the prorated unused hosting time (or 100% without a promo), followed by the standard 8% processing fee. You only pay the difference for the time left. The preview lists credit for time left on the old plan, any applicable coupon adjustment line, the plan change fee line, and a charge for remaining time on the new one.
After that period ends, renewals use the new recurring price. Storage, site count and the rest of the package limits update once billing confirms the change. The site stays online through the switch.
- Sign in, open the service, then Change plan.
- Pick the new package and review Amount due now.
- Unused time on the current plan reduces what you pay for the upgrade after a standard 8% fee deduction.
- If your current period used a promo, the credit base is 50% of unused time (or 100% without promo), followed by the standard 8% fee.
- Confirm yourself. No support ticket required.
Downgrading: keep what you paid for until renewal
Moving to a smaller plan works the same screen. When the new price is lower, HostPanda defaults to At renewal. You keep the current package and the limits you already paid for until the period ends. On the renewal date the smaller package and price start. There is no mid-cycle charge, and you can cancel the scheduled change from the service page if you change your mind.
Prefer the smaller plan immediately? Switch the timing to Start now. Unused balance on your current plan is still credited against the new package for the rest of the period, and you see the breakdown before you confirm. Either way, you do it yourself in the Client Area.
Where you see that credit (and what it is not)
The unused-time credit shows in the Change plan preview as line items and Amount due now. It is applied on that plan change for the rest of the current period. It is not the same as Account credit on the Billing page.
Account credit is a separate wallet you can top up for future renewals. Plan-change unused balance does not land there as a standing balance. Promo codes apply to new orders and Extend hosting, not to Change plan. If you only need more time on the same package, use Extend hosting instead.
